Can the Sony Ebook reader read books in other formats?

I merely got an ebook reader for christmas, and though the sony ebook site has a lot of material, it doesn't have everything I', looking for. Can I download eBook from other sites and still interpret them on the sony reader?

Sony Reader will announce any .lrf (that's their format, the same as you get from their site, except the double-protected ones are .lrx), .epub (with the firmware update), .pdf, .rtf, and .txt files.

PDF is by far the easiest to gain; .epub is the most common & best-featured ebook style for portable readers. The Sony Reader will read any PDF--but most of them are formatted in a way that makes them keen to read; using the "M" and "L" options loses the formatting, but only some books are calm to read that way. (It's fine for novels; bad for charts & tables & anything with pictures.)

You can get uncage ebooks from http://www.manybooks.net and http://www.feedbooks.com, along with several other sites; feedbooks even has PDFs bulk-formatted for reading on the Sony Reader. And Mobileread.com has thousands of unfetter ebooks, plus forums and a wiki that can helpers you figure out what's available and whether stuff the Reader can't interpret can be converted.

I be conversant with that Sony just sales that kind of offshoot in US market. So I'd like to separate how can I get it in Vietnam or nearer countries such as Singapore, Thailand or Malaysia.

Several years ago, I was invited to Amazon.com headquarters. After signing a legit promise of secrecy, I was taken into a special chamber. Someone came in carrying a package containing Amazon's concealed weapon ... the Kindle.

It was turned on. And from the deficient I held it, so was I. It felt like I was holding the later. Since then, the ebook market has taken off. The Kindle has worthy competitors, including the iPad, Sony Reader, and Cranny.

While I consider myself a paper guy, I can see the advantages to e-books. An ebook reader is smaller and lighter than a guidebook. You can effortlessly perform hundreds of e-books, which is great for long, multi-stop trips. And with built-in wireless, you can buy books from anywhere, serviceable for spur-of-the-moment detours.

Of course, e-books have their problems. Though they trade well for novels, they remain clunky for guidebooks. It can be toilsome to find the information you're looking for; flipping from page to epoch can be awkward; and maps — often designed to run across two pages — don't always be included correctly. An ebook reader is expensive, and if you lose it, you're out hundreds of dollars. Still, e-books are here to block, and they'll only gain in popularity.

E-books are just one of the latest technologies changing the way we treks. E-mail, blogging, Facebook, and Twitter have usurped postcards. Celebrated pay phones are nearly obsolete now that cellphones, cosmopolitan phone cards (sold in Europe), and vocation over the Internet offer easy and cheap alternatives. After a detailed day of sightseeing in Berlin, you could go back to your hotel room, download a motion picture, and watch the serious "Das Boot" or the funny "Good Bye, Lenin!"
