Would you get a Kindle or a Sony Reader if you could download all the books you already own?
If there was a way for me to get all the books I already own onto a Kindle or Sony Reader I would get one now. What about you?
(I principled want to know if you would, I don't pine for to know why it isn't an option or how they would do it if they chose to do so)
I'm thrilled for the answers so far. Let me clarify that you would be able to download all of the books you own now for disburden.

the difference between the sony reader digital book and kindle by amazon?
I legitimate learned that i am getting the Kindle from my husband for christmas.(so on a high) Anyway i was looking at the add for target and came across the digital reader from sony. Does anyone have knowledge of what the difference is??? If so which one is better then??? thanks( although i am keeping the Kindle -its from my hubby.)
In beyond to the advantages mentioned by the other posters, the Kindle has on more biggest one - the selection available. Amazon currently offers about 185,000 titles in Kindle constitution, and they're adding more all the time. The last time I checked, the Sony only had about 20,000 titles nearby. With that much selection available, you can pretty much vouch for always having something to read that you will enjoy.

I was idea of buying an iRex Iliad... but the eBook bazaar seems to be very strong with the Kindle Format. Any recommendations?
I got the Kindle for my birthday and true-love it. You can put other texts on it besides the Kindle format. And music and can go on the internet.

Can you read Kindle books on readers other than the Kindle?
Can you comprehend kindle books on readers other than the kindle? I'm wondering because I would like to use a less up-market/more available reader to access the large kindle reader.
I have a Kindle and I dearest it. My understanding is that the Kindle library on Amazon is only obtainable to Kindle users.

The Amazon-Macmillan book saga heralds publishing's progress Washington Post
In the volume business, that transformation has been led by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, who has been a main at using the Internet to cut out the middlemen that stand between the inventor and the reader, delivering books to consumers at lower prices. This activity of "disintermediation" started about 15 years ago, when Bezos figured out how to cut out bricks-and-mortar retailers by shipping books momentarily to consumers' homes from his company's warehouses. But the honest breakthrough came when Amazon introduced the Kindle reader and began using wireless phone networks to resign digital books for $9.99 a pop.
Amazon's question model was, in fact, the reverse of the one used so successfully by Gillette, selling razors at small or no profit but making it up on high-margin razor blades. In this happening, the $9.99 retail price for the books (the blades) was indeed less than the $12 to $14 "wholesale" prize Amazon paid to publishers. That loss, however, was made up for by the loaded profit margins on the Kindles (the razors), which push for $260 to $490.
The genius behind the deeply discounted paperback price is that it seems to have greatly accelerated the inevitable metastasis from physical books to digital ones, while allowing Amazon to figure a commanding lead in the digital space. That has not sat outstandingly well with book publishers, which continue to get the overwhelming piece of their profits from hard-copy sales and don't agreeable competition on pricing or the prospect of getting well-supported-armed by a dominant distributor. But as long as Kindle was the digital reader of determination for nearly 3 million consumers, there wasn't much they could do to question Amazon's dominance.
And then Steve Jobs showed up with the iPad. Apple's new $500 scratch pad computer can do almost everything a Kindle can, and much more. And to the delight of publishers, he was offering not only 25 million new likely customers but also a new business model in which Apple would not play tricks on merely as a distribution agent for the publishers, rather than a wholesaler. Under this plan, publishers are free to set retail prices as high-class as $15 per book and pay Apple a flat fee of 30 percent of the sacrifice.
