GPS/Tom Tom Question - Is there a place to download maps for the Tom Tom One 3rd Edition for free?
My sire-in-law got one for Xmas and I was trying to find a place (other than the Tom Tom website) to get them for his GPS section. The official website charges for maps (Weak!!!!)

It should have the latest maps on it. Are you looking for POI (points of interest) files? ie. Starbucks, Harley, Quarry etc.? If so you can do a google search for free POI and there's a ton of them for casual, Also you need to search for POI editor because most of these files are .cvs for Garmin and with the without POI editor you can open and then save them in the TomTom form, then copy them to the TomTom and your set. But as for maps so far as I be aware you can only get them from TomTom.

What represent you like GPS Tom Tom more than Garmin ?
Someone offer me a new GPS Tom-Tom 920T for $425, but i in use accustomed to to have Magellan maestro 4040 & Garmin Nuvi 300.
I dont have any know-how with Tom Tom.
Please tell me, what's the good side beside these :
Bleutooth, MP3 gambler, FM transmitter, text to speech, 4.3" LCD.

i like garmin bigger than tom-tom. the map for garmin is more detailed(in the US) than tom-tom. Tom Tom is a huge European based steersmanship system whom is working their way into the US. All those features you listed for the Tom Tom you can have with the Garmin Nuvi 660 for under $400

Can I use Tom Tom GPS for palm version in blackberry pearl?
If I have blackberry cream, can I install Tom Tom GPS palm version and combin with Bluetooth reciever to use the GPS for no obligation?
entertain doubts it. Palm and BB are on different platforms.

Which of the following Tom Tom GPS units feature text to speech instructions?
Which of the folowing units say the name of the byway someone's cup of tea that you are about to turn on, not just "Exact turn in 400 feet" The garmin website has this mug listed as "text to harangue" but i cant figure out what it is on the tom tom website. The units i'm interested in are the Tom Tom One, GO 300, and GO 700

With the spread of in-car GPS units these days, people aren't reliant on map books as as they familiar to be.
I'm not, especially since I've been using TomTom's navigation maps for the iPod Cause, which turns an iPod Touch into a GPS system and letting drivers acreage courses, find destinations and locate points of interest.

You use the Touch's virtual keyboard to epitome in addresses but I'd suggest you do any route calculations before driving off as tough to type on the small keyboard is not only illegal, but also chancy.
Every time I tried to flummox the unit by changing directorship from the prescribed course, the unit was able to hurriedly re-plot the new course based on my direction.
