Hi I am about to advantage a gps car navigation unit, basically I am driving from MO to Orlando and back and reflect on it would be better than mapquest. Of these two that I mentioned above, what would you praise and what are the pros and cons if you have experienced any? The Magellan and Garmin are almost a hundred bucks cheaper but the Tomtom seem to have more features , I don't be sure! But these are the three cheapest models out there. Thanks people.
You can approach those three devices side-by-side here:

Of those three, I would eliminate the StreetPilot i3 from your list. It has a very cheap screen, doesn't use a partake of screen display, and doesn't encompass pre-installed maps. It is the oldest mechanism of the three you have mentioned and wouldn't be the A- pick.
Of the remaining two, here are the primary differences. The TomTom ONE includes maps of Canada while the RM 2000 only has the US 48 states. The TomTom ONE is also a smaller dimensions and weight, yet retains the same size veil so it will be more portable.
The TomTom ONE also has more advanced routing features such as advanced planning and the knack to create itineraries and save them for following use.
Here is a review of the TomTom ONE:

And here is info on the RM 2000:

I'd put forward the TomTom, it has a big display and is easy and jiffy to use but make sure you look into the employment offered rather than just the unit, it will all depend on where you get along. Someone once described the service they received (but they are in Australia) this way: TomTom is like buying a excellent new car that works just fine only to find later that there aren't too many gas stations. So perhaps also post a question on here asking how people who own the TomTom like their aid and let them know what country you reside in or what conurbation you live near. It's all about site I believe. As for the unit itself, they are great. Also, be sensitive of where you purchase the unit, you will want a guarantee. Make sure, if you plan to acquire a TomTom, that you get one with a warrenty.
Additionally, a bird has the Garmin StreetPilot C330 and he hates it. Equitable passing that along.
Good luck to you!
Vehicles that come across with GPS navigator
I do credence in most cars can be ordered to your own specifications as an added physiognomy, when purchasing them new, but I find Suzuki , Honda, and most extraneous automobiles do.
I'm buying my fiancee a GPS system as part of his Christmas schedule. I don't want to pay over $200.00. From what I can intimate so far, GPS is one of the better ones on the market. I'm looking at two so far -- they are the Garmin Nuvi 200 Small GPS System and the Garmin StreetPilot c530 3.5-Inch Pocket-sized GPS Navigator. I'm also looking at TomToms -- paragon TomTom One, 3rd Edition 3.5-Inch Manageable GPS Vehicle Navigator and TomTom ONE Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator . Can anybody let someone know me which one of these is the best and why you would recommend it? It would be a great purloin, thank you!
The distinguish most common complaint I hear is "the GPS took me on a laughable route that I would never have chosen and was not the best/shortest way."
Arguably the most important components of any turn-by-turn GPS seamanship system are the routing engine and map accuracy. The routing apparatus is the software on a GPS that decides which route the part should choose to get from point A to point B. Many people falsely sham that simply having the same maps on two GPS devices will fruit in the same routing choices. Not so, as there is a great distribute of math and decision-making complex when calculating the "best" direction.
Not surprisingly, this also one of the most difficult and complex aspects for GPS manufacturers to get just, and is the aspect of GPS navigation that is least well understood by consumers.
The two largest mapping matter providers are NAVTEQ and Tele Atlas . NAVTEQ is more nice and complete in North America, so it's preferable to buy a GPS that uses NAVTEQ rather than Tele Atlas (as of this book). (for more detailed information on both NAVTEQ and Tele Atlas, check d cash in one's checks out "NAVTEQ vs. Tele Atlas, Which one is Cured?")
However, there is a lot more to a routing engine than straight the mapping data provider. How a delineated GPS will determine the "best" course is the result of not only the mapping data, but also how many additional statistics points, or attributes, are factored into the equation. For exemplar, are certain roads closed after hours or on the weekend? What is the ordinarily rate of speed for a given route? Statistically speaking, more accidents develop when making left turns as opposed to proper turns -- is the GPS unit factoring that into the carry? Each company takes all this data and compiles it in assorted ways, making unique decisions about what details is more important than others. The number of attributes occupied varies depending on how much money the fabricator is willing to spend on their mapping observations. For example, a full NAVTEQ map database that includes all at attributes can cost the manufacturer twice as much as a elementary set of attributes.
All Magellan and Garmin GPS units use NAVTEQ mapping details, while TomTom uses Tele Atlas. Magellan's Maestro constituent ships with 2007 NAVTEQ maps pre-installed, while the Garmin nuvi's NAVTEQ maps are several years old, (although Garmin is planning to make available updated maps within the next month or two). TomTom newly updated Tele Atlas maps are also from 2007.
In on the blink to find out which GPS has the best mapping and routing capabilities, I tested the latest and greatest models from Magellan (Maestro 4050), Garmin (nuvi 680), and TomTom (ONE XL). Note that the TomTom ONE XL I tested is the newest rendition and has TomTom's newly updated maps installed on it..

I'm buying my fiancee a GPS system as part of his Christmas laundry list. I don't want to pay over $200.00. From what I can communicate so far, GPS is one of the better ones on the market. I'm looking at two so far -- they are the Garmin Nuvi 200 Lightweight GPS System and the Garmin StreetPilot c530 3.5-Inch Vest-pocket GPS Navigator. I'm also looking at TomToms -- beau id TomTom One, 3rd Edition 3.5-Inch Vest-pocket GPS Vehicle Navigator and TomTom ONE Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator . Can anybody refer to me which one of these is the best and why you would recommend it? It would be a great serve, thank you!
for this bounty range the TomTom may have the best maps. under most circumstances I would say get the NUVI all day sustained. But if you stay in the $200 range you will definitly get what you paid for. I only say that because the maps are from a 3rd reception company. that's why the units are so Scrooge-like. If you can see if you can stretch to that $400 to make reliable you have atleast a decent quality one.
