Netbook? ?
Keyboard Enlightenment (#86/365)

I am intellectual of getting a ASUS 8.9" Eee 4GB PC Netbook Computer with Linux from Butt. Do you have one of these? What do you think of it? Do you like it?

Could I like a note papers on it and like do homework and obstruct on it? Also what colors does it come in?

Netbooks to woman are designed to do little more than write e-mails, do parley processing, and do a little web surfing (streaming HD video is thorny). On the plus side they are ultra portable. If you can intermission until March or April, I would hold out and get one of the new machines that ASUS is growing to be putting out (Eee 1000HE or T91 or T101). These machines will have more power and will have more features. As far as Linux is perturbed, Easy Peasy is the best OS for these machines. Windows can be more retention intensive and can be harder on the battery. When Windows 7 comes out it might be a opposite story, but Linux packs the most features for a smaller "footprint". Contemplate this helps and good luck in your ruling.

Also: NewEgg.com (or even Amazon.com at times) might make a better deal.

1) Double-click on the "WiFi Bearing" icon. It can be found in the system tray at the bottom of the laptop filter.

2) Click on "Properties."

3) Special the "Wireless Networks"

4) Use the "Add" button at the bottom of the dialog if your WiFi network isn't in the "At one's fingertips Networks" section.

What Netbook would you recommend that has decent battery life?
DeStINo La CoNdEsA

What Netbook would you back that has decent storage space, has as full vastness keyboard as possible (10" sort out) has long battery life (eg five hours) runs XP and is good-looking well built?

I also wondered if it is easy to synchronise your Netbook with your Desktop so that you can regularly update your files and settings back and forth between the two for things such as Favourites, Contacts, Photos, Music etc.

You have asked the rectify guy! Don't waste your time with anything but the ASUS EeePC 1000HE (impute sure you get the "HE" ideal). The battery can last up to 9.5 hours. Typically I get about 7 hours out of mine but that's because I am always online (7 hours is much longer than most netbooks). Another enormous thing about the 1000HE is the keyboard, it's a chiclet opulence keyboard and it is really easy to strain on for a netbook.

There are new netbooks being released almost daily but you can't go not working with the ASUS EeePC 1000HE. Make sure of out this easy-to-read netbook buyers adviser before you make your purchase... http://netbooksandstuff.com/netbook-ratings

Ethical luck in your search!

Netbooks are notebooks CNET News

The contemporaneous generation of Netbooks tends to have certain defining characteristics--specifically Intel Atom processors and the Windows XP (or Linux). But, as Gartenberg notes, a 7-inch partition off also used to be a defining characteristic. Now many Netbooks discover with 10-inch screens. Come Windows 7 and time to come processor generations from Intel (and AMD), I expect any unambiguous distinctions that exist today to rapidly dimness.

That's not to say that analysts and product managers won't create a pail for small, price-focused notebooks. They may call that pail "Netbooks." They may call it "Value Ultraportables." They may call it "Fred."

IT business people like to chop markets into named categories for reasons of their own, even if as a gink analyst said at a recent meeting: "the general consumer calls everything a laptop anyway."

One reason that the nomenclature take a stand around Netbooks is more intense than such battles tend to be is that the value between Netbooks and other ultra-portable notebooks is also a blameable line in a competitive battle between Intel and AMD.

For Intel, Netbooks have been the big produce category win for its Atom processor. (If a somewhat serendipitous win. Atom was instance more focused on a new class of "Mobile Internet Devices" (MID), a work category that so far hasn't taken off .) For its part, AMD has focused on an incrementally higher reward and processing power point with its Athlon Neo party line (found in the HP dv2).

As a result, it's in Intel's interests to promote Netbooks as something new that is both separately from and incremental to the notebooks that use higher-end (and higher dollar) Intel parts. At the same interval, it's in AMD's interest to denigrate Netbooks as underpowered and not real PCs.

Conclusively, there is a continuing trickle of evidence, such as this NPD Group dispatch , suggesting that consumer satisfaction with Netbooks isn't all that grand.

Like James Robertson , this latest despatch struck me as a bit curious. Many of the people I know with Netbooks are almost excessively adoring of them. However, it's fair comment that most of the people I know as also geeks, are attracted to the new and distinctive, and understand what a Netbook class of device can do--and what it can't. It doesn't blow up credulity to imagine less educated consumers entrancing a $300 notebook home and then being dissatisfied because it's not a broad replacement for a $1,000 notebook.

Kohjinsha SK3 - Touchscreen Netbook

http://www.gadgetvenue.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/kohjinsha_sk3_umpc.jpg

The SK3 is a new touchscreen netbook (plaque) from Kohjinsha that features a 7″ curtain. It is an upgrade from a previous model. Included in the new pass out is a new battery and camera.

The screen is a brace of inches smaller then the ASUS Eee PC T91 which we mentioned last week and folds boring to be used as a tablet. The touchscreen is a resistive and at bottom the SK3 is 1.3GHz processor.

Wi-fi 801.11n is built in allowing for fair and fast connectivity. It is unclear at the note if storage will be offered as SSD or HD. With the processor it runs it should be skilful of running Vista sufficiently.

An decorous announcement of the Kohjinsha SK3 with full specs should be within reach this week which may also include pricing. As quickly as we receive the details we’ll let you be familiar with.

Ubuntu netbook remix on a Lenovo T61

In kaput to check if the Ubuntu Netbook remix would be right for my wife parents I set myself to test it on a Practical Machine or on laptop (which is running Karmic since Alpha one).

I started at http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download-netbook. There isn't an iso present to download, but an img file. This isn't surprising as the targeted hardwares (in many cases) have dash memory instead of hard drives. The image file is designed for Atom processors as they rule over the market (da [...]
